Deleting your data

How to delete what you have put on Starbook, and what happens to it.

On this page

Last updated 16 October 2026.

One picture

Open the picture, choose Edit, and use “Delete this photo” at the bottom of the page. The picture and its files (the display copy and any data master) are deleted from our storage and their space is given back to your quota; its share cards go in the nightly clean-up.

Your whole account

Go to Settings → Account and delete your account. Your pictures and every file are deleted from storage first; then your profile, likes, saves, ratings, follows, messages and points go. Your comments stay in their threads under “deleted user”. There is no grace period: it happens at once.

Starbook's Facebook and Instagram

If Starbook featured one of your pictures on its own Facebook Page or Instagram account, the post is removed on request. Write to legal@starbook.si with the picture's address, and we take the post down.

To stop future posts, turn featuring off in Settings → Featuring (for all your pictures) or on a picture's edit page (for that one).

Backups

Nightly database backups are kept for 30 days and then deleted, so a deleted account leaves the backups within a month.
